Jeff Ylinen, provost of Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, will discuss the “Past, Present and Future of Workforce Education” on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at UW-Stout.
Ylinen will speak from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Memorial Student Center. Admission is free. A reception will follow.
His talk is the feature presentation of the seventh annual Career and Technical Education Executive in Residence program. Ylinen will meet with students, faculty and staff throughout the day.
Ylinen earned a master’s degree in 2009 in career and technical education from UW-Stout. He is a graduate of Dunwoody as well as Bemidji State University and has a management and leadership certificate from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. He is on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board in Minnesota.
The CTE Executive in Residence program is sponsored by the career and technical education bachelor, master’s and doctoral programs and School of Education at UW-Stout.
The CTE programs are outgrowths of one of UW-Stout’s first majors, industrial education, dating to the early 1900s. The CTE master’s program has been offered for 75 years, since the Graduate School opened in 1935. UW-Stout began offering a doctorate in CTE in 2013, the university’s first doctoral program.
