You Can Always Volunteer

Things we can do to help others
January 19, 2021

On the third Monday of January, the UW-System observed a national day of service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to get out and engage with their community.

Here are some great ways to get involved.

Donate Blood or Plasma America is facing a critical blood shortage. Donated blood is a lifesaving, essential part of caring for patients. Plasma is used to produce therapies to treat rare, chronic diseases and disorders. To find a drive near you, visit RedCross.org.

Donate Food and Other Essentials Our Helping Hands Pantry on campus accepts food donations. The United Way of Dunn County accepts furniture, bedding, housewares, hygiene items, clothing and more. Donate books to a local Little Free Library.

Get Crafty Put your sewing skills to work by creating and donating masks to a clinic or hospital near you. The CDC provides guidelines when making cloth masks.

Get Your Flu Shot Keep yourself and others healthy by getting your flu shot. Your student can get theirs through Student Health Services.

Send a Card Sending cards to elderly care facilities to wish the residents well can really brighten someone’s day!
