Hello, my name is Lindsay Heidelberger and I am an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.  I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN and my dietetic internship at the VA Medical Center in San Diego, CA..  As a dietitian, I have worked in a variety of settings and with diverse patient populations.  My professional experience includes practicing as a dietitian at a fitness center, health insurance company with a weight loss surgery program, and with low-income families in a public health setting.

I earned my doctorate from the University of Minnesota.  My research has two main focuses.  First, to explore the behavioral and environmental factors that influence diet and physical activity choices of children that live in low-income communities.  Second, to better understand how health care practitioners, especially dietitian’s, incorporate environmental issues, such as sustainable agriculture, into their practice.  Overall, my aim is to better understand the connection between food insecurity, food access, and health.

On a personal level, I live in Minnesota with my husband and two daughters.  I enjoy spending as much time as possible outdoors, including running, playing tennis and softball, hiking and, currently, experiencing summers in the twin cities.  I also enjoy traveling and trying foods from different areas of the world.
