The School of Hospitality Leadership at University of Wisconsin-Stout has again been named one of the very best in the world.
CEOWorld magazine of New York recently announced its top 50 hospitality management academic programs for 2017, and UW-Stout was No. 8.
That’s up two places from 2016, when UW-Stout was No. 10.
Among U.S. institutions, UW-Stout was No. 6.
“The School of Hospitality Leadership takes great pride in our reputation and standing among our peer institutions,” said Professor Brian Bergquist, interim director of the school. “Our faculty and staff should be honored. The ranking is because of their dedication and continued expertise in the field.”
Cornell University was again ranked No. 1. The magazine examined 107 college and university programs and surveyed 42,000 people from 52 countries. Schools were ranked on six factors: global influence, recruiter feedback, academic reputation, job placement rate, admission eligibility and specialization.
CEOWorld is a business and technology magazine for high-level executives, according to its website.
The School of Hospitality Leadership offers majors in hotel, restaurant and tourism management; golf enterprise management; and real estate property management.
For many years, graduates of the programs have had a nearly 100 percent employment rate within six months of earning their degrees.
“We strive to meet the needs of our students and stakeholders,” Bergquist said. “Our students and alumni are outstanding and represent us well in the workplace.”
A key component of the school’s programs is experiential learning. Students are required to complete field experiences of at least 320 hours on the job at leading hospitality companies.
The School of Hospitality Leadership is marking its 50th anniversary in 2018.
