Admission Requirements

General UW-Stout Graduate School Application

All prospective graduate students at UW-Stout must follow a standard application process through our Graduate School. Beyond that, each graduate program has specific requirements that must be met to be successfully admitted to the program:

Program-Specific Application Requirements

  • Curriculum Vita/Resume
  • A statement of intent which describes the candidate's academic history, employment history and professional goals

Please include your statement of intent and attach your curriculum vita/resume within the UW System application or submit it to the UW-Stout Graduate Studies Collection Form.

Please know that the MSOSM Program Selection Committee will favor applicants who have a minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 2.75 as well as academic and workplace experience which align with the broad demands of a profession within the operations and supply management industry.

Program Objectives

Upon completion of the MS OSM program, students will be able to:

  1. Recognize ethical issues, propose solutions to an ethical dilemma and use ethical reasoning to justify the solutions.
  2. Implement leadership skills in leading others engaged in operations and supply chain management.
  3. Demonstrate awareness of the current U.S. legal and global regulatory business environment.
  4. Apply decision-making techniques, both quantitative and qualitative analysis, to operation and supply management issues.
  5. Construct and communicate a logical, relevant, and professional quantitative and qualitative assessment of business information in an effective manner.

Additional Objectives for Operations Management Concentration:

After successfully completing the Operations Management concentration, the students will be able to:

  1. Apply systems analysis to management decisions and operational success.
  2. Examine and improve the globalization effects on an organization’s operations.
  3. Analyze effective decision-making, problem-solving, and technical skills required in operations and management.

Additional Objectives for Quality Management Concentration:

After successfully completing the Quality Management concentration, the students will be able to:

  1. Apply best practices for knowledge-based business quality management decision making.
  2. Lead projects that implement quality management systems and a continuous improvement culture for organizations.
  3. Perform auditing and gap analysis to improve an organization's quality performance.

Additional Objectives for Project Management Concentration:

After successfully completing the Project Management concentration, the students will be able to:

  1. Manage projects and programs.
  2. Apply techniques for quantifying and managing the impact of change on a project.

Additional Objectives for Supply Chain Management Concentration:

After successfully completing the Supply Chain Management concentration, the students will be able to:

Additional Objectives for SAP ERP Concentration:

After successfully completing the SAP ERP Concentration, the students will be able to:

  1. Define and explain SAP ERP concepts and be able to contrast an SAP ERP to traditional functionally oriented information systems.
  2. Use an SAP ERP system to manage a company.
  3. Perform business analytics to generate business intelligence.
  4. Analyze sales data using SAP ERP to support decision making in changing market conditions

Additional Objectives for Industry Occupational Safety and Hygiene Concentration:

After successfully completing the Industry Occupational Safety and Hygiene concentration, the students will be able to:

  1. Collect and evaluate relevant data to reduce the risk profile of an organization.
  2. Integrate the concepts of occupational safety analysis and responsible business practices.
  3. Evaluate the legal, moral and sustainability principles that are relevant to the occupational safety and health (OSH) profession.

Additional Objectives for Engineering Technology Management Concentration:

After successfully completing the Engineering Technology Management concentration, the students will be able to:

  1. Model, analyze and control system design and production activities.
