Dining Dollars

We want you to get the most out of your dining experience at UW-Stout, that's why we created the Dining Dollars Plan. The Dining Dollars Plan is for students living on-campus in the residence halls or for students living off campus. The Dining Dollars Plan offers five options for those that live on campus and can choose the one that best fits their needs. Students select their dining plan on the Housing Gateway at the same time as room selections.

Understanding your Dining Dollars

Dining Dollars.
The Dining Dollars are the funds available on your Stout BlueCard which function as an on-campus debit-account when purchasing food. In cafeteria locations, students living on campus who paid the board fee, pay the average food costs for the meal period. Students receive the best value from their dining plan when eating at Commons or North Point Cafeterias. When you use your Dining Dollars, you only pay the average price for that meal period and receive one entrée, sides, salad bar, beverages, and desserts per visit.

Where can you use your Dining Dollars?
You can use your Dining Dollars at any dining location on campus. You'll get the most from your Dining Dollars both financially and nutritionally by dining in the cafeterias. A student living on campus should take advantage of as many of these meals in the cafeterias as possible to maximize the value of their Dining Dollars.

Dining dollars roll over semester to semester, year after year until the student graduates or leaves the campus. Students have the opportunity to use their dining dollars throughout their time at Stout. Students can be confident in selecting a higher plan to meet their needs because funds roll over. Additionally, students can add dining dollars at any time on a dollar for dollar basis. There are also no transaction fees when adding dining dollars.

How are purchases made with Dining Dollars?

Dining Dollars are available through your Stout BlueCard which is your on-campus debit card when purchasing food from any dining location. Your Dining Dollars account balance and Campus Cash funds, will be displayed at the register each time a purchase is made. This allows you to easily track the number of funds left on your account.

With the Dining Dollars, your Stout BlueCard is your method of payment so you must always bring it with you when purchasing food. If your Stout BlueCard is not with you at the time of checkout alternative payment (cash, debit or credit card) will be required.

The Board Fee, $1,234, is the same for all on-campus students. This fee pays for operating costs such as utilities, labor, supplies, maintenance, and insurance in our cafeteria locations. The Board Fee pays for everything, other than food, required to operate Commons and North Point Cafeterias. In the chart above, the Board Fee is added to the amount of Dining Dollars selected to make up the total cost of the dining plan.

Campus Cash

Students can also add supplementary funds to their Campus Cash account. Campus Cash is a linked account for food, laundry, vending, the bookstore, and other campus purchases. Funds rollover each semester and stay with the student until they graduate or leave campus. We recommend students add $150 to their Campus Cash account.

Dining Dollars Frequently Asked Questions

What Dining Dollars Plan is best for me?

We recommend first-year students choose the Blue Devil 750 Plan until they learn their dining habits.

Consider how often you will eat in the cafeteria dining locations, and how often you may be eating outside the cafeterias at our retail locations.

Remember, Dining Dollars roll over semester to semester, year to year, so there is no penalty in selecting a higher plan. Students have the opportunity to change their dining plan at the beginning of each semester.

Where you dine is the most important factor besides the frequency of dining when you select a plan. Dining in Commons Cafeteria and North Point Cafeteria the majority of the time is the most economical use of the Dining Dollars plan.

What if I have extra Dining Dollars?

Your unused Dining Dollars will continuously carry forward with you at Stout. You have the opportunity to spend your funds throughout your time at Stout whether you live on or off campus.

Can I treat guests using my Dining Dollars?

Yes! In the cafeterias, the guest's charge will be based on their Dining Dollars Plan participation or non-participation. Your guest must possess and present a valid Stout BlueCard in order to verify plan participation.
