Emergency Funds for Students

Supporting our students through unexpected hardship.
In this Section

A helping hand in a time of need.

The UW-Stout Student Emergency Fund was created to assist students faced with difficult decisions and challenges based on unexpected financial demands. Emergency situations may include accident, illness, death of a family member, fire damage, temporary housing needs, or some other unexpected extenuating circumstance causing financial hardship. It is assumed that students seeking funding from the student emergency fund have exhausted all other resources of financial aid and potential funding.

CARES funding is emergency aid from the federal government, available to students, to assist with specific expenses (food, housing, technology, childcare, course materials, health care, etc.) incurred as a direct result of the disruption caused by COVID-19. Lost income and wages are not allowed to be covered with CARES funding and only Title IV eligible students may be considered for CARES funding.
